Because of how dynamic PC’s are, you have people that had a and couldn’t run a game very well or at all, Heretic for example as someone that had a It’s not as easy to relate to as something like Super NES or PC-Engine general because there is no universal case and setup that everyone had.

All you have to do for most games is put the floppy disk in your computer and make a copy. A lot of what stems game collecting is having fun with a particular system with your buddies. Many people didn’t have a PC at all, or didn’t have one that was capable of running many games because they were so expensive, so gaming on an x86 computer wasn’t really an option. You pretty much had to be a super geek and enjoy tinkering with electronics to get the most out of your PC.

I’m sure a lot of people were turned off of that kind of stuff when they couldn’t get their new sound card to work due to IRQ conflicts and having to mess with jumpers on the sound card was too intimidating, along with not knowing what an IRQ is, knowing which IRQ’s are free, and that an IRQ conflict is even the issue.

It took me a long time to figure it out. So anyway, I’ve got a small collection of PC games that I’ve purchased over the years. Most or all of which I purchased when they were still sold in retail stores.

I don’t really mess with it too often at all because it’s such a hassle to deal with, but I like having the real hardware to play my real games on, even though DOSBox is infinitely easier to work with. Anyway, I’m interested in seeing if anyone else likes old PC games.
