Sign in to vote. I am having problems installing Windows 10 on a new hard drive. I had to force shut down by holding the power button and tried rebooting and it continually froze at that same spot every time. I am able to open BIOS but after doing everything I could in BIOS to try and fix the problem it just keeps freezing at the motherboard logo or saying please select a proper boot device and try again.
I tried using the Microsoft media creation tool to use a USB to reinstall Windows 10 and try to boot fresh but all that happens is the Windows logo comes up and dots start spinning but then the dots freeze and it does not move from there.
I have tried letting it sit there for multiple hours and nothing happens. I have also tried resetting the CMOS and only using one RAM stick but it always does the same thing and I now also have a brand new hard drive that has never been used before that I have all the same problems with.
I do not have another desktop, just a laptop that I used to create the USB installation device. Unfortunately I do not have a Windows install disc because I was never sent one from ibuypower and I don’t have a any blank discs big enough to burn an install onto. I am hoping I won’t have to take it in to a repair shop because I don’t have the money for that. Friday, February 16, AM. Austin M B.

Is Ubuntu currently on the hard drive? Do you still have the Ubuntu install disk? We can delete the partitions on the disk using Gparted then create a new GPT partition table. Windows 10 may pick up the disk and install but I can’t understand what would be preventing the Windows 10 install from booting.
